Mattersey Primary School

Safeguarding

At Mattersey Primary School, the health, safety and well-being of every child is our top priority.

We believe that safeguarding and promoting our pupils' welfare is everyone's responsibility and so all staff in school receive appropriate training on a regular basis. We are fully committed to ensuring that effective safeguarding procedures are in place and expect this of all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to our school.

Our school aims to provide a safe environment and vigilant culture where children can learn and be safeguarded. If there are safeguarding concerns we will respond with appropriate action in a timely manner for those children who may need help or be suffering, or likely to suffer, significant harm.

We have two Designated Safeguarding Leads for Child Protection- Mrs Lucy Wilson (Head Teacher and Senior DSL), and Mrs Victoria Hunter (Deputy DSL) who have had appropriate training for this role. We believe it is important we work together as a whole staff team for the safety and welfare of our children.  Our governor link for safeguarding is Mr Chris Bailey.         If you have any concerns about the safety and wellbeing of any child/person, please contact the Designated Safeguarding team,

     Mrs Lucy Wilson (DSL)

    Mrs Victoria Hunter (Deputy DSL)

In the event that the school cannot be contacted (e.g. holidays and weekends) any safeguarding concerns should be reported to the Nottinghamshire Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) on  0300 500 8090 or 0300 4564546 (out of hours).

There are many different ways that we ensure our school is a safe place for children:

All staff and governors undertake statutory safeguarding training.

We make the necessary checks when recruiting new staff to our team.

We make the necessary checks with volunteers in school and visitors in school are

If children have any concerns about feeling safe, there are people in school they can talk to.

We follow rules and guidelines for keeping children safe in education.

We follow rules and guidance if children do not attend school and we ask parents to notify us of pupil absence.

We encourage everyone to be safe online and actively promote and teach e-safety in school through our PSHE curriculum and through assemblies and enrichment days.

We have systems in place for Filtering and Monitoring to ensure that pupils and staff are safe online.

Our school staff receive appropriate First Aid and Paediatric First Aid training so there are staff who know how to deal with injuries and accidents, allergies and health concerns.

We don't take photographs or recordings without permission.

We follow rules for using mobile phones in school and expect all visitors to do the same.
